My wonderful nurse Jessica came up with the idea of a “Thankful Bulletin Board.” There are paper “leaves” available at the check-out desk so that patients can write down anything for which they are thankful, even if they are not yet healed.
Every day, patients remind me of the power of gratitude. Our patients so often show great courage in suffering, and they inspire me to quit whining about the small things in my own life.
I am thankful to be in the field of wound care, which is endlessly interesting and full of opportunities to ease suffering. I am thankful for my staff and for the patients whose courage inspires me.
