This patient had a “tummy tuck” done in the Caribbean where she said about 20 lbs of fat was removed from her abdomen. On the flight home she developed acute abdominal pain and respiratory distress, requiring the plane to make an emergency landing in a different country where she was hospitalized for treatment. Back in the U.S. she had to undergo surgical debridement and a lot of wound care – for months, with a less than satisfactory cosmetic result.
I think she paid a pretty high price for her low budget mommy make-over.
