Here’s an interesting bit of fodder for your drive to work on the Labor Day holiday. I follow the blog of Knicole Emanuel, an attorney in Raleigh, NC who specializes in Medicare and Medicaid regulatory compliance litigation. Her recent post discusses whether some actions on the part of Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) are legal. The topic is broader than that, but the part about the MACs will peak your interest if you practice wound care. Here’s one excerpt: “. . . when you provide Medicare services that are medically necessary and properly completed, your reimbursements for such services cannot be withheld without due process. This means that many rules and regulations across the nation may be unconstitutional.”
