Advanced Practice nurse Laura Kaiser has just published an article in Today’s Wound Clinic entitled “Home-Based Wound Care: Insights on Challenges and Rewards.” It chronicles her challenging personal and professional journey which created her passion for the underserved – particularly those with chronic wounds. You will be encouraged and motivated by her story but it’s also an important indicator of the way that wound management is evolving. There are a lot of implications for the field, as wound management changes to meet the needs of patients and the vicissitudes of often short-sighted payment policy! However, Advanced Practice Nurse Laura Kaiser’s motivation was simple — to provide wound and disease management to the underserved – in their homes. I am so glad to bring some attention to who she is and what she is doing.
