As 2024 closes, I am grateful to all of you for your interest in my random observations. If you need a New Year’s resolution for 2025, read The Undoing Project: a Friendship that Changed Our Minds. The book explores the partnership of Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky. The book is a riveting account of the way these two men showed us the surprising and often erroneous thought processes behind human decision making . It has profoundly impacted the fields of economics, scientific research, governmental, and medical decision making.

Kahneman received the Nobel prize in economics but sadly, Tversky who died of malignant melanoma did not live to share it. The book has changed the way I think about my own research and career. Here are some thoughts as you contemplate your work for the coming year:

“It is sometimes easier to make the world a better place, than to prove you have made the world a better place.”
― Amos Tversky

“There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
