Tuesdays in the month of June, I’m offering some straight talk about a few of the MANY ways in which payment for hyperbaric oxygen therapy is going to change and FAST. One of those is Hyperbaric Facility Accreditation. Utah has required UHMS accreditation for Medicaid reimbursement for 5 years.
MVP has mandated UHMS facility Accreditation for hyperbaric medicine centers:
“The Center must be accredited as a Level 1, 2, or 3 Hyperbaric Treatment Center by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society OR Must be part of an acute inpatient medical-surgical hospital fully credentialed by MVP per the MVP Hospital Criteria and the MVP Credentialing of Organizational Providers administrative policy AND The center must engage at least one physician who meets one of the approval pathways noted on the MVP Credentialing.”
What’s your plan for Hyperbaric Facility Accreditation? If you are not on the UHMS list for accreditation, call and get on the list. Download the materials from the UHMS website and then call the UHMS and talk to Mr. Tom Workman about how best to prepare. Tell your hospital you need to put this in the budget and why.
