Hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions are often blamed for medically unpreventable pressure ulcers which began as tissue infarctions linked to hemodynamic factors in very sick patients. The companies that ensure these institutions are tired of paying millions of dollars for medically unpreventable events. Since we can’t seem to get the dialogue moving in the right direction in the wound care space, I decided to take the conversation to risk managers and the insurance companies. I do not charge for any of the talks I give to risk managers, defense attorneys, or insurers.

Curi Insurance, a medical malpractice liability insurance company, asked me to give a talk on the “inside out” mechanism of pressure ulcer formation. They are making the talk available free of charge. You can watch it below or by clicking here: Defending Pressure Ulcer Cases by Understanding How They Really Happen – Curi

If you are associated with a risk management organization and would like a presentation on the vascular origin of pressure injuries, the pitfalls of the staging system and medically unpreventable events, message me.
